Collins begins his book Good to Great with “Good is the enemy of Great”. The quote resonates throughout his book, whether when discussing leadership, transformation, or concepts. People, companies, and even society as whole do not achieve greatness simply because they settle with just being good. Level 5 leaders have a strong commitment and sense of investment in their companies and its success. They do not stop when things are just “good”. This includes everyone on his or her team. They do not want good team players; they want great team players. Achieving greatness does not always involve complicated principles. In fact, Collins argues it to be the contrary. He argues that it is not about doing many things well, but doing one thing exceptionally well.
