Case Study: Gaslamp Strip Club
For my case study, I chose to research a restaurant that has tastefully combined a creative theme and concept to create a very unique dining experience. The Gaslamp Strip Club is a 21 and up “grill your own” steakhouse located in the Gaslamp district in downtown San Diego. The overall theme of the restaurant bears a club-ish, pin up, and, well, a resemblance of traditional old school strip clubs. The restaurant is open-air with leather booths and dim lighting in the interior. Central grills are located throughout the dining area for guests to cook their own food.
The “cooking your own food” experience is not a new concept in the restaurant industry. Asian cuisines have popularized this method of dining with sukiyaki, shabu shabu, and, most notably, Korean BBQ. The Gaslamp Strip Club not only applied this concept to the traditional steakhouse, but also seamlessly executed a theme that takes the dining experience to a new level. Today, consumers are assertively looking for new experiences, and they are willing to pay. The steaks at the Gaslamp Strip Club are priced slightly less compared to other steakhouses and they are served unseasoned and uncooked. Consumers are willing to pay that price to leave with a memorable dining experience, which they will undoubtedly get at the Gaslamp Strip Club.
